I would say that this hasn't been our best and brightest week here. We got some bad news about Dane's grandfather's health and it was really sad to tell the kids about it. We tried an adventure yesterday. We went downtown and planned to go to a big market and the gold museum. Nothing worked out as planned, but the kids were troopers. The bus ride to and from downtown is pretty long. The bus was really crowded on our way home and Elise got her foot stuck under the door of the bus. ouch! And we forgot our phone so no map to help us navigate and no pictures.
We did get to visit the apartment of the lady that owns "our" bakery. She does textile art and her house is decked out for Christmas in things she has made by hand.
I'd like to show what shopping for food is like here. I'll try to take some pictures of the shops later, but I did take pictures of:
Eggs: We buy them 30 at a time. They all seem pretty farm fresh for reasons I'll not describe
Our haul after a trip to the fruit/veggie shop
onion, peaches, tomatoes, mora berries, ginger, cucumber, lettuce, ceduelas (little plums that we love), a big avocado, tomate de arbol (new fruit!), sweet red pepper, pineapple, and a big bunch of bananas
for $7...seems like a good deal to me
Hopefully more on food shopping later. In the meantime here are a couple of random things.
Naomi after Spanish class collecting things that start with M. Maleta, mopa, muñeca, mochila, & miel
Today was a good Sunday. We went to our first church service in person in Spanish since we've been here! We didn't understand much, but I did learn a couple of new words. Then this afternoon we rested and played.
If there is anything specific that you would like to know or see pictures of, leave a comment and I'll do my best.
