More Pictures...Since We're Still Waiting

Mom and Dad came on the 5th, Miriam and Eli came on the 8th, Dad left on the 10th, Miriam and Eli left on the 14th.  Mom will be here until the 28th.  I wish Dad could have met the baby and I wish Miriam could have been here for the birth, but ya know, these things just happen in their own time.  So we wait.  Here are some pictures of our time together.

Eggs in Unusual Places

Elise decided to get an early start on hiding Easter eggs this year.  Dane was adjusting his pillow this morning and felt an odd lump inside his pillowcase.  He pulled out an egg!  We automatically assumed that our resident egg collector placed it there and we were right.  When we asked Elise about it she said that there wasn't a space in the egg carton in the fridge so she was looking for a soft place to put the egg.  inside Dane's pillowcase was obviously the best answer.  We're just glad that he made it through the night without it cracking!

He's 2!

And all he talks about when it comes to his birthday is eating cake.  When he's excited about something he gets this low airy voice, smile and wide eyes.  "Justus what do you want to do for your birthday?" and he responds in his excited little way "eeeeat caaake."  He sometimes includes "choooocate."  That would be chocolate in Justus language.

I really think that 18 month to 2 1/2 year phase is so fun and precious.  He's getting independent, talking and communicating more, imagining, coming out with this fun and silly personality, and I just want to squeeze him and tickle him and cuddle him all the time...and he's still ok with that.  Most of the time:)

We love our Justus (aka Jus Bus, Bus, Juster Buster).

We had a fun day for his birthday.  We took him to the fire museum this morning.  I forgot to take the camera and missed out on getting a picture of him in a kid-sized fire hat and coat.  He looked adorable!

And he did get some chocolate cake after supper!

Warm Weather...In January

I'm actually enjoying the warm days, but know that something akin to a winter season is good for nature and I guess probably good for me too.  Although after growing up in snowy northern Maine and New Brunswick, a brown winter with little to no snow is kind of gross and just doesn't feel all that wintery.  

But this "winter" weekend in Memphis was beautiful short-sleeve weather and we took advantage of it!  Spending time outside, getting manure for the garden, building a little fire for marshmallow roasting.  Thankful for the warmth!
